Excellent waterproof barrier.
All surfaces to be clean, dry, sound, free of all laitance, grease, oil, fungal growth and loose and flaking particles that might affect adhesion. Concrete may require grit blasting. Cracks less than 0.3 mm in width can be coated as long as the crack is not likely to open up more than 0.3 mm.
Cracks greater than 0.3 mm in width should be chased-out to 4 mm in width and ±15 mm in depth. This should be filled with dura.®flex (applied using less liquid providing a thicker consistency). When material in the crack has hardened the coating should be applied over the crack.
No priming required.
It is essential to use a mechanical mixer, such as a slow speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle.
Fill approximately three quarters of component A (milky liquid) into a pail and, with continuous stirring, slowly add component B (grey powder).
Mixing must be continued until the mix is homogeneous and free of lumps.
For horizontal surfaces such as the base of reservoirs, add the remaining component A. For other applications add only sufficient component A to provide a suitable consistency. When the two components are mixed together, a plastic thixotropic liquid results which is easy to apply.
8 m2/15 kg for 1 mm wet film thickness. Minimum coverage of 2 kg/m2/mm, applied in not less than two coats.
dura.®flex may be applied with a short bristled brush, rubber squeegee, trowel or spray.
Brush: Should be applied in three coats to provide a final dry film thickness of 2 mm to 3 mm on surfaces. Alternate coats should be applied at right angles to each other, allowing 16 hours between coats.
Trowel: First coat should be applied at a thickness of 1 mm to 1.5 mm using a normal trowel. Allow to cure for 16 hours. Second coat should be applied by using a notched trowel and levelled immediately by using a spiked roller.
Tools, brushes and mixing equipment should be cleaned immediately after use and before material has set with abe® super brush cleaner followed by washing with soap and water.
dura.®flex may be left as is, be tiled over or overcoated with a high quality PVA/acrylic paint.
5 kg and 15 kg (two part).
Shelf life of six months, but shorter if in extreme conditions. Keep tightly sealed in a dry cool place in the original packaging.
It it essential to use a mechanical mixer, such as a slow speed electric drill fitted with a FESTO mixer that has a helical coil mixing head for best results.
Product safety information required for safe use is not included. Before handling, read product and safety data sheets and container labels for safe use, physical and health hazard information. The safety data sheet is available from your local a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals branch.
