BITUMEN IMPREGNATED CABLE TAPES

abe® cable tapes are woven hessian and cotton fabrics impregnated with a petroleum based penetration grade bitumen that is free of coal or wood tar derivatives. The bitumen is chemically inert containing no water solubles.

abe® cable tapes perform as bedding and binding/ wrapping layers to meet the demanding requirements for the production of armoured electrical power cables.

The bitumen tapes are dry to the touch at 23 + 2 °C. These tapes offer inherent anti-corrosion properties, while also providing braid stability.

Uses
  • Suitable in the production of metal sheathed cables
  • Insulation of metal and cables against corrosion or moisture ingress
Advantages
  • A bedding layer between the armour layer and the cable core
  • Excellent insulation properties
  •  Excellent anti-corrosion and moisture resistant properties
  • An overwrap to protect the cable during installation ensile strength helps prevent bird-caging of armour wires.
  •  Available in widths and lengths to suit the cable manufacturer’s individual needs
