Dimpled High Density Polyethylene Protection Membrane.
abe.®drain 20 is a dimpled high density polyethylene (HDPE) membrane with 20 mm dimples.
abe.®drain 20 can be used in applications that require extra drainage capacity, protection of the waterproofing membrane and soil stabilisation.
Other uses are:
- Flat roofs.
- Roof gardens.
- Retaining walls.
- 20 mm raised dimples for increased drainage.
- General purpose product.
- Excellent value.
- Resistance to chemicals usually found in soil and groundwater.
- Vertical applications.
- Protection of the waterproofing membrane.
- Secondary waterproofing membrane.
- Thermal control.
Typical Physical Properties
See technical datasheet
For the Protection of Walls:
The surface area must be waterproofed according to a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ specification. We recommend the application of Index Fidia P/Indextene in accordance with a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ specification. Ensure that the waterproofing membrane is completely covered with abe.®drain 20 for maximum protection. Measure the height of the wall including a flap which must be folded back and wrapped around the drainage pipe. Allow an additional 100 mm above the finished ground level before cutting the sheet. Fix the sheet just above the waterproofing membrane with the dimples towards the wall being careful not to damage the waterproofing membrane. Should it be necessary to overlap the sheets then 150 mm would be sufficient (3 dimples). Apply super laykold waterproofing tape 100 mm wide along the flat part of the product for this purpose. Place the drainage pipe on the abe.®drain 20 after having first placed a layer of drainage material under the pipe. Cover the pipe with some drainage material to keep everything in place before backfilling. Finish off the abe.®drain 20 at least 100 mm above the finished ground level and cover with a counter flashing.
For Drainage and Protection of Roof Gardens:
The surface area must be waterproofed according to a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ specification. This is not a primary waterproofing membrane but is recommended for buried dual layer system applications. The first layer consisting of a 3 mm torch-on will be abe® unigum followed by an antiriot bituminous membrane such as Index Defend H. Lay abe.®drain 20 with the dimples facing downwards. Should it be necessary to overlap then 150 mm would be sufficient (3 dimples). Apply super laykold waterproofing tape 100 mm wide along the flat part of the product for this purpose Where required place a geotextile membrane loosely on top of the abe.®drain 20 before spreading out the soil. This is important as the soil would otherwise fill the dimples and thereby reduce water drainage. Spread out the soil according to the instructions of a qualified landscaper.
For the Protection of Flat Roofs and Terraces:
We recommend applying a suitable waterproofing membrane such as abe® unigum prior to laying abe.®drain 20. On top of the bituminous membrane lay abe.®drain 20 with the dimples upwards. Should it be necessary to overlap, then 150 mm would be sufficient (3 dimples) Apply super laykold waterproofing tape 100 mm wide along the flat part of the product for this purpose. Place the finishing layer of gravel or concrete tiles on top of abe.®drain 20.
Do not butt-joint sheets.
Install abe.®drain 20 as supplied using an overlap of 150 mm between the sheets resulting in an overall coverage of 37 m2 per roll.
The drainage and protection membrane will be abe.®drain 20 a dimpled high density polyethylene protection membrane as supplied by a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals.
The abe.®drain 20 will be applied in accordance with the recommendations of a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals.
In order to guarantee the quality and characteristics of the abe.®drain 20 product, it is recommended to use the range of accessories specifically studied for each purpose. Please consult the technical department at a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals.
abe.®drain 20 is supplied 5 rolls per pallet and wrapped for protection.
