Epoxy adhesive for bonding durajoint flexband membrane.
durajoint flexband adhesive is a two component, solvent free epoxy resin bedding mortar/adhesive with low slump characteristics. The product has particularly high adhesive characteristics and will cure under damp conditions.
FDA Compliance: durajoint flexband adhesive epoxy system components have been selected to be used in accordance with CFR Title 21, 175.105 regulation.
Uses
Specifically developed for bonding durajoint flexband polymer membrane to prepared concrete surfaces and itself, including potable water retaining structures. As a bedding mortar and adhesive. Repairs where non-slump characteristics are a requirement up to 10 mm thickness.
durajoint flexband adhesive can be applied in sections up to 20 mm thickness in horizontal locations and 10 mm in vertical locations in a single application without the use of formwork. Greater thickness can be achieved by the application of subsequent layers. Consult the local
a.b.e.® office for further information.
Advantages
- Early high strength and therefore minimizes down time
 - High peel strengths to membrane
 - Good resistance to a wide range of chemicals
 - Good adhesion to damp concrete
 - High solvent resistance

Surface Preparation
CAUTIONARY NOTE:
Concrete: Cleaning of the surface to be repaired is best achieved with a light sand, grit blasting, and/or scabbling to remove all loose material, contaminants such as oil, grease, corrosion products or any other deleterious materials followed by vacuuming. Any corroded, exposed steel must be cleaned in a bright finish (shot blasting) and concrete cut back behind the steel to fully expose the back of the bars. durajoint flexband membrane: Wipe surfaces prior to bonding with durajoint flexband solvent wipe and allow to dry. See data sheet`Preparation of Surfaces’.

Bonding & Priming
Priming is not normally required on well prepared porous substrates. Where steel is exposed the cleaned steel should be coated within 3 hours. Apply one full and continuous coat of abecote 384 primer and allow to dry before continuing.
Mixing
durajoint flexband adhesive is suitable for hand mixing on a flat clean surface (wear gloves). durajoint flexband adhesive components are heavy pastes and should be mixed in manageable amounts (2 L kits) to ensure homogeneity once mixed. Uniformity in colour is an indication of homogeneity. Set up prescribed amounts (do not split kit) of base and activator side by side on a clean board. Mix together by trowel or paint scraper until a streak-free, grey material results. Mixing should be continued for another 5 minutes.
Coverage
1 m2/ litre / 1 mm thickness (smooth regular surface).
Application
In the case of expansion joints or cracks, follow the method statement: durajoint flexband application process.
Note: Ensure intimate contact between adhesive and adherands during the “hardening process” by using flat sections of laminated timber as a light weight.
Limitations
Do not split the kit – use as supplied.
Do not use at temperatures below +5 °C or above 35 °C.
Cleaning of Equipment
Tools may be cleaned with abe® super brush cleaner immediately after use before the material has had time to cure.
