Three-Component Polyurethane Primer Chemically Resistant, Solvent Free.
PU/HPU primer is a three-component polyurethane primer specifically designed for use with abe.®screed PU and in combination with abe.®flo HPU as a pore sealer.

Substrate must be concrete or polymer modified screed above 25 N/mm2 compressive strength. Totally enclosed heavy shot blasting or scarification should be used to remove all residues to provide a dry, dust-free open textured surface with exposed aggregate.
Anchorage grooves, minimum 4 mm wide x 4 mm deep, must be formed at all edges, bay joints, columns doorways, drains and at regular centres across the floor. Generally, groove width and depth is 2X screed thickness. If time constraints (or any other) results in application of screed short of these anchor groves, then cut new groves to finish off application and start next application with new groves.

Bonding / Priming
PU/HPU primer is recommended as a primer/pore sealer and must be allowed to cure. Priming must be undertaken in the late afternoon (i.e. declining substrate temperature).
Do not mix by hand. A helical mechanical mixer is recommended. Kit components are pre-weighed for optimum performance. Never split or proportion kits. Add aggregate component gradually into base while stirring. Ensure complete distribution of aggregate before adding activator. While stirring, add activator and mix till colour is uniform. Transfer to a clean container and remix for approximately 3 minutes.
3 -4 m2/L depending on surface roughness.
Soon after mixing, spread the primer onto the floor to the required thickness using a sheepskin roller.
Roller should be discarded, but other equipment may be cleaned with abe® super brush cleaner before dried/cured.
Protection on Completion
Protect surface against traffic and spillage until subsequent screeds have been applied and cured.
The primer will be A three-component polyurethane primer PU/HPU primer. The floor topping will be either abe.®screed PU or abe.®flo HPU in accordance with a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ recommendations.
PU/HPU primer is supplied in 5L packs, consisting of Base, Hardener and Aggregate.
Handling & Storage
All PU/HPU primer related products have a shelf life of 12 months if kept in a dry, cool store in the original, unopened packs. If stored at high temperatures and/or high humidity conditions, the shelf life may be reduced.
Health & Safety
When wet, PU/HPU primer is toxic. Ensure working area is well ventilated during application and drying. Avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes. Suitable protective clothing, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protective equipment should be worn. The use of barrier creams provides additional skin protection. If contact with skin occurs, wash with water and soap. Splashes into eyes should be washed immediately with plenty of clean water and medical advice sought. When curedPU/HPU primer is inert and harmless.
