Dimpled High Density Polyethylene Protection Membrane.
abe.®drain is a dimpled high density polyethylene (HDPE) protection membrane which offers high resistance to all chemical agents usually found in soil and groundwater and to mechanical compression.
abe.®drain is used to protect bituminous membranes in walls, basements and foundations. The product can also be used as separation layers where controlled water flow is required.

The Protection of Walls:
The surface area must be waterproofed according to a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ specification. We recommend the application of Index Fidia P/Indextene in accordance with a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals’ specification. Ensure that the waterproofing membrane is completely covered with abedrain for maximum protection. Measure the height of the wall including a flap which must be folded back and wrapped around the drainage pipe. Allow an additional 100mm above the finished ground level before cutting the sheet. Fix the sheet just above the waterproofing membrane with the dimples towards the wall being careful not to damage the waterproofing membrane. The space between the dimples and the wall creates an air chamber allowing air movement to keep the wall dry. Should it be necessary to overlap the sheets then 75mm would be sufficient (3 dimples).
Apply super laykold waterproofing tape 100 mm wide along the flat part of the product for this purpose. Place the drainage pipe on the abe.®drain after having first placed a layer of drainage material under the pipe. Cover the pipe with some drainage material to keep everything in place before backfilling. Finish off the abe.®drain at least 100mm above the finished ground level and cover with a counter flashing.
For the Protection of Roof Gardens:
The surface area must be waterproofed according to a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals‘ specification. This is not a primary waterproofing membrane but is recommended for buried dual layer system applications. The first layer consisting of a 3mm torch-on will be abe® unigum followed by an antiroot bituminous membrane such as Index Defend H. Lay abe.®drain with the dimples facing upwards. Should it be necessary to overlap, then 75mm would be sufficient. Apply super laykold waterproofing tape 100 mm wide along the flat part of the product for this purpose. Where required place a geotextile membrane loosely on top of the abe.®drain before spreading out the soil. This is important as the soil would otherwise fill the dimples and thereby reduce water drainage. Spread out the soil according to the instructions of a qualified landscaper.
For the Protection of Flat Roofs and Terraces:
We recommend applying a suitable waterproofing membrane such as abe® unigum prior to laying abe.®drain. On top of the bituminous membrane lay abe.®drain with the dimples upwards. Should it be necessary to overlap, then 75mm would be sufficient. Apply super laykold waterproofing tape 100 mm wide along the flat part of the product for this purpose. Place the finishing layer of gravel or concrete tiles on top of abe.®drain.
Do not butt-joint sheets.
Install abe.®drain as supplied using an overlap of 75mm between the sheets resulting in an overall coverage of 46,5m2 per roll.
The protection membrane will be abe.®drain, a dimpled high density protection polyethylene membrane as supplied by a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals. The abe.®drain will be applied in accordance with the recommendations of a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals.

abe.®drain is supplied 12 rolls per pallet and wrapped for protection.
Handling & Storage
The product has no expiry date. Keep out of direct sunlight for extensive periods. No heavy loads are to be placed or packed on top of the product.
